NAME
popkitchen is the blog, I started two and a half years ago. It is written in my mother tongue. Later I met many people to whom I said that I blog, but not in a language they could understand, they always prompted me to start doing it in English. In short, I want popkitchen to be a lifestyle mag for intelligent people.
ME
My name is Jelena Maksimović. I live in Belgrade, Serbia.
I have a BA in English Language and Literature. After a string of freelance jobs, I realized that I need to finally pursue my ongoing love affair with media and popular culture. Hence, Erazmus Mundus scholarship for a program MA in Media, Communication and Cultural Studies at Institute of Education, University of London and Universita degli Studi di Firenze. Following the research period spent in London, writing my disertation, on the topic of economic value of user-generated content, I graduated in April 2009.
Currently, I live in Belgrade and work in PR agency. I am a staff writer for online pop culture magazine Popboks and occasionally I contribute articles on politics and social topics for Transitions Online.
